Paper details

One instruction per line. They are numbered automatically.

Writing questions: leave a blank line between questions. Lines under a question (MCQ options, sub-parts, "OR") stay with it. To give one question different marks, end its first line with the marks in square brackets, e.g. [4].

Your paper is saved in this browser only, so you can come back to it. Nothing is uploaded.

How to make a question paper

  1. Fill in the header: school name, exam, class, subject, time and date.
  2. Edit the general instructions. Each line becomes a numbered instruction.
  3. Add sections, for example Section A for MCQs, B for short answers and C for long answers, and set the marks per question.
  4. Paste the questions, with a blank line between each. Options, sub-parts and an "OR" line stay with the question above them.
  5. Check the preview. Questions are numbered across sections, and each section shows its total marks.
  6. Download Word to edit further, or print / save as PDF to share or print.

What the generator does for you

  • Continuous numbering across all sections, updated as you add or remove questions.
  • Automatic marks: section totals and the maximum marks in the header always match the questions.
  • Different marks for one question: end its first line with the marks in square brackets, e.g. [4].
  • Internal choice: put "OR" on its own line between two alternatives.
  • Reorder sections with the arrow button.
  • Word download (.docx) that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice.
  • Saves as you type in your browser, so you can close the tab and come back.

Everything runs in your browser. Names, marks and logos are never uploaded to AcadifyLab or anyone else.

Tips for a balanced paper

  • Plan marks by chapter first, in proportion to their weight in the syllabus. The question paper format page has a blueprint table for this.
  • Mix difficulty: roughly 30% easy, 50% medium and 20% hard works for most class tests.
  • Test different skills: recall in MCQs, understanding in short answers, application in long answers.
  • Solve the paper yourself and allow learners two to three times as long.
  • Write the answer key at the same time, so marking is consistent.
